Each winter, Healthy Peninsula partners with volunteers and local high school students to prepare and distribute sand buckets to community members who request them. Using sand sourced from town offices, these buckets provide a simple, effective way to improve safety during Maine’s most challenging weather months.

Spreading sand on icy walkways, driveways, and steps improves traction and helps reduce the risk of slips and falls. It’s an eco-friendly solution that delivers immediate results.
