Our Early Childhood Initiative has received a one year planning grant from the Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation to fund community engagement activities that will help create a Family Resource Network in our area. Meeting with parents and educators and learning about challenges and resources will lay the groundwork for collaborations with existing early childhood programs and activities that can help to better support young families.
Our focus on Kindergarten Readiness also continues to strengthen our connections with health care providers and schools as our EC members share information about new screening tests in well child exams, help organize preschool developmental screenings, plan professional development activities for preschool and Kindergarten teachers, and provide leadership in regional EC groups.
