On September 9, 2016 was honored to receive a Community Health Champion Award from Healthy Acadia for the services provided to the community by the Magic Food Bus. The award was presented at a dinner celebrating Healthy Acadia’s fifteenth birthday. Healthy Peninsula and Healthy Acadia have collaborated on a number of projects over the last few years, and Healthy Acadia has be
en a vital partner in the Thriving in Place Downeast (TiPD) project. The Healthy Acadia’s Gleaning Project has provided food for Healthy Peninsula’s Magic Food Bus, and a refrigerated trailer is parked outside Healthy Peninsula’s office on the campus of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, which is donated electrical power to keep produce cool. The two Healthy agencies are working together on screening community members for food security. And with all those repeats of “healthy,” we ought to be the healthiest communities around.
