Healthy Peninsula has received a $40,000 grant from the Early Childhood Community Planning Grants Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to support information, training, educational resources and programming for families preparing their children to enter school.
This grant is a follow up to the Early Childhood Community Planning Grant awarded last year to Healthy Peninsula, in which research was conducted to map and understand early childhood in the nine towns of the Peninsula, Deer Isle, and Stonington. A team of network partners worked alongside Healthy Peninsula to develop an Early Childhood Community Profile, which is set to debut later this year. From that research, an action plan was written. This funding will assist in implementing programming and services aimed to support young families in our area.
Healthy Peninsula’s mission is to mobilize, support, and collaborate with community partners to improve the health and well-being of the residents of the Blue Hill Peninsula, Stonington and Deer Isle. Their three primary areas of focus are kindergarten readiness, healthy eating and successful, healthy aging.
