Early Childhood Health Fairs are planned for Blue Hill, Stonington, and Brooksville. Originally published in Compass, April 11, 2013
The hospital and Healthy Peninsula have partnered with Ready by 21, Child and Family Opportunities, Downeast Regional Child Development Services, local dentists and others to provide comprehensive health, dental, and developmental screenings in a health fair setting free of charge to young children from 18 months to 5 years of age.
Child Development Services will offer play-based developmental screenings; nurses from Blue Hill Memorial Hospital primary care clinics will provide height, weight, hearing, and vision screenings, and local dentists will provide dental screenings. These events will be fun and child friendly, including face painting, children’s nutritional information, a healthy snack table and more.
Each Health Fair is taking on its own direction and personality depending on the needs and desires of the community in which it will be held. The health fairs will be held at the following times and locations:
Island Family Medicine, Stonington, Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 367-2311 to register Blue Hill Family Medicine, Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 374-2311 to register; Brooksville Elementary School, Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 326-8836 to register.
