Early Childhood Coordinator
My professional background, while inclusive of doing bookkeeping for a construction company, is in social work and rehabilitation counseling. I spent several years working in the City of Richmond, Virginia providing direct therapeutic and case management services and advocacy for adults who lived with serious mental illness, substance use and were experiencing homelessness. I was also a familiar face in the VA State Legislature, fighting for improved mental health access and services. My advocacy and support continue today.
In 2015, I became at work-from-home mom, while raising our two young children. Having the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom was one of my most treasured. In 2017, we made the next major decision to leave my home state of Virginia and move to his hometown of Surry, Maine. Since our move to Maine, we have become embedded members of our community; starting a small farm, working with the town recreation committee to bring sports and programs in for our youth, advocating within the school systems and more. I work in the Brooksville Elementary School as the school counselor, working with children, their families and the staff.
I am very excited to be the Early Childhood Coordinator at Healthy Peninsula. It's a topic that is near and dear to my heart and puts me in a place to help our area be the best it can be for our little ones.
